Michael Steele, RNC Chairman - Congressional Reforms?

To M. Steele: Not one farthing for any Congressman, Committees or PACs until we get legislation voted on by legislators whose votes are not bought by "party favors" or "special interests". Your messages are "empty words" without reforms. Some issues may not be worth wrangling about, compromises may be necessary, may even produce better results, but no sooner was Congress back in session than they forgot all about the campaign related issue: "Bridge to Nowhere". Would anything be different if Republicans were in the majority?
"TRICKLE-DOWN-CORRUPTION" looks to be your challenge. Results first. It's time for a new message, a national consensus, not partisan politics.
I KNOW we have good, loyal Americans in our Congress who have American values. I also KNOW those values are being subverted by a system truly in need of the right kind of "change". SHOW ME!
Omnibus Bills Must Stop: Multiple-purpose, multi-item bills & earmarks stand in the way. The $14 billion Big 3 Bailout Bill is a prime example of "gimme" trade-offs for votes. It's time for leadership from Representative & Senators who are no longer willing to compromise their vote by getting something else, unrelated, added to the bill in return.
Please change the way Congress does business? Give us sound, honest, wise legislation without the pork, gimmes, goodies or "extra" social engineering. Lew

What if a Health Care Bill posed no threat to the Constitution? From the very beginning it has been about the provisions they'll insert implementing "reforms" that include more pork and politcal payoffs. Does anyone trust them? I don't!
Is there some Progressive "Grand Scheme"? Whether there is or not, our Corrupted Congress will pass a "Grand Scam", scheming and selling out all the way, hidden provisions artfully tucked in.  Woe unto us peons! Lew

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUaY3LhJ-IQ  Video shows a "nailed-down" example of a Maxine Waters (D) threatening an oil executive with a socialistic government takeover of the oil industry if gasoline prices rise from lack of supply, yet refusing to allow the oil drilling that the hearing was all about.
By exposing the Socialist Agenda you can help defeat her ilk in 2010.
We're faced with a many-headed Hydra, one of which uses racial bias as a political campaign weapon. We absolutely MUST find a way to get her supporters to realize they are trading in past grievances for another kind of slavery. Those who fight for & think they understand the meaning of Civil Rights need to be further educated about the enemies to Civil Rights within their ranks.
A "War for  Civil Rights" is now needed to protect the Civil Rights of every Amercian under fire from those same Civil Rights advocates held so dear. Civil Rights can't be redistributed. We ALL have them or we ALL lose them. Remember Martin Luther King? He understood this simple core principle. It was his torch. He lit a fire. But the fire burns for you AND me!
Socialsim is Tyranny flying the twisted banner of "EQUAL AT LAST" (except for government officials), no longer "free at last" (only to be heard in a Martin Luther King museum where old timers reminisce about the good old days, gone forever, saying, "We had the right idea but we let it slip through our fingers. Civil Rights protect EVERYONE. Why didn't we understand MLK's message was meant for all Americans?").

In his recent Town Hall, President Obama cited 1% of the total budget was "Earmarks & Pork Barrel" & another 1% was attributed to something else. He then pointed out that 70% of spending was "fixed" leaving 30% for discretionary spending.
Guess what?  2% divided by 30% = 6.67% of the discretionary budget! So much for "it's only 1% of" this & "1% of" that fiscal slight of hand! If millions of Americans didn't figure this out, then our education system really HAS failed.
This "bread crumb" approach to their explanations for the lack of fiscal discipline is why Congress gets away with slipping millions/billions of dollars of unrelated expenditures into 1200 page Omnibus Bills (like Health Care) in committee.

From the Fixed (70%) side of the ledger they say can't be controlled?
On the Federal level our Congress felt they should have a special plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan. When they retire (after one term?) they continue to draw the same pay until they die except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments..
For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000 with their wives drawing $275,000 during the last years of their lives. This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries.
Younger Congressional Dignitaries will receive much more for the rest of their lives.
This excellent retirement plan they voted for themselves (slipped in?) is free. The fixed cost comes out of the General Fund. Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from Congress. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us. Lew

Abraham Lincoln: "You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.  You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.  You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.  You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.  You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.  You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.  You cannot help people permanently by doing for them what they could & should do for themselves."

Lew: Just buy silver in case the dollar becomes worthless. A Friend.                                Answer: There are no protections except a stable currency. Look back at other societies (tho' still operating in many countries).  Moneylenders controlled the exchange rates, taking their "cut". Government control of exchange rates has kept the Bankers in check.
I may be over-simplifying but why do the Arabs hate the Jews? If you focused a magnifying glass back to those "good old days" you'd see that "moneylending" was at the root of the conflict that still endures with all the other issues floating on top.
So, what do the Islamic Fundamentalist terrorists want? Conflict followed by control. How good is silver under those conditions? It isn't about religious control. As used throughout history, religion is the "wooden horse" inside of which is a MoneyLender.
How much "good" can be done with a debased, inflated & indebted dollar! Except for the greed of the moneylenders (in cahoots with the Arms Dealers), we could all live in peace.
Now they've found a "better way": The perfect "mousetrap" to reign in those who may be gaining an economic foot-hold: INFLATION!
Oh, and those welfare payments or Social Security? An automatic reduction in buying power without legislating anything at all while the Feds spend more dollars. Neat, huh? And the British PM's visit to Obama? Probably to get a "lesson" in Obamanomics.
The Democrats are killing the liberal "goose" & the liberals are BLIND to it. Lew

>>Elect politicians who will pass legislation that applies this understanding of ECONOMICS:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=D93B127BED4DBAFC

I viewed all 6 parts, the last 2 twice. Congress lacks VISION! And OBAMA?  So far he's behind the curve, not ahead of it.  Now tell me what the good it is to STIMULATE more of the same economic behaviour?  Lew

>>Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress...But I repeat myself. --Mark Twain

>>Tax relief for the States, reduced Federal subsidies, not more! More States' control over taxation & spending, not less!?! Our States' resources are being wasted to get Federal subsidies, not to mention the loss of power. Our Governors could do a lot to stop the slide toward Federal Socialism.

>>STOP the "INFLUENCE PEDDLING": A Citizen's individual political contritubtions doesn't buy influence, why should anyone else's? We give to support honest, responsible government. No contribution should buy anything more!
Even with the best of intentions our individual legislators are helpless in the face of  "rule by committee".  I propose that every member of Congress gets to vote on each & every individual unrelated & designated item in each bill. Then we'll get transparency.

The power we have to exert influence through the internet must be preserved. Let's be "oh-so-careful" about letting government "modernize" it. It may just be the last gasp of a free nation by the time they're through with it.

>>Heard Obama say it on FOX NEWS December 6, 2008, he's going to "modernize" the internet. Why is federal intrusion needed? He's a VERY smart man, well educated. He should know federal intervention to "modernize" the internet puts one of our current, most precious freedoms at risk. Alarm bells went off in my head. They should have in yours.
I, for one, do not want to see our internet power controlled by "BigBrother"! Do you? Lew

Lew: He wants it more accessible to rural areas by laying new cable, creating jobs.

A good the idea, lay cable & create jobs. Still leaves a question. Federal money or private investment? Anything coming from the Fed Gov't MUST BE MONITORED. Every time we trust them, things don't end up getting done as proposed. I'll continue to be suspicious of every idea they or the President has. "Trust but Verify".
>>We should not allow ourselves to be divided. "Omnibus Bills" are one way they screw us, inserting all kinds of "goodies" having nothing to do with the legislation being passed. I certainly did not vote for or approve of all the things done in the name of Conservatism. Lew

>>URINE TEST: I have a job. I pass a urine test. I pay taxes. The government re-distributes my taxes. Shouldn't recipients of my urine-tested-hard-earned-pay have to pass a urine test if I have to pass one to earn it for them? I don't have a problem helping people get back on their feet. I have a problem with people who sit on their ASS doing drugs while I work for them. Something has to change!

>>I spent 20 years in the insureance industry. UniversalHealthCare would add another level of institutionalized federal bureaucracy & administrative costs. My wife & I are on MediCare live in a city over 80% black. It stands to reason most of the patients at our Dr's office are as well. What doesn't stand to reason is, after arriving ahead of every other patient who signed in after us. being called last.

The underpriveledged need to understand that the more we level the playing field at the federal level, the more we fall prey to political manipulation. When the Feds "give" us a "Another Deal", government grows & more of our control is lost. Another Cabinet position. More dissassociation. Another "Czar" without a "clue" as to what is Really Going On.

>>I suspect Osama Bin Lauden is howling with glee. He brought down the structure of the World Trade Center. We've made it possible for the final economic, bloodless, non-military takeover. All that oil money. All the dollars borrowed. Now they can simply buy us. WE did it to ourselves. I guess I DO read too many spy novels.

>>How many zeros in a billion? The next time you hear a politician say $billion$, think about YOUR tax money:
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth.
A billion dollars ago was only 8 hrs & 20 minutes at the rate our government is spending it.
Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu (D) asked Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans: If you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, and child) you each get $516,528. Or if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets $1,329,787. If you are a family of four your family gets $2,066,012. >>Washington , D. C < HELLO! > Are all your calculators broken?

>>COMMENT: 40 years ago the cost of healthcare was so reasonable we could pay for it ourselves and our income was way less than "middle class"! Insurance changed all that. Now we can't even afford the premiums. About 50% of every preminum or tax dollar goes to administrative costs. The medical professions (& our employers) have increased administrative costs & the cost of 'healthcare' goes up. Take away administrative costs & most Americans could pay for medical care out-of-pocket just as we did 40 years ago. And the ones who worked at staying healthy were the winners. The burden fell on those who didn't. All we needed was affordable high-limit, high-deductible insurance to guard against catastrophic illness, etc.  Lew

>>536 PEOPLE (Condensed & Edited) Politicians campaign against problems they created. Deficits? Politicians are against deficits. Or inflation & high taxes. 100 senators, 435 congressmen and 1 president. 536 human beings out of 300 million are responsible for the bureaucratic problems plaguing this country.
The Constitution gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating & approving appropriations & taxes. The Speaker of the House and fellow House members, not the president, approve any budget they want. When you fully grasp that only 536 people exercise the powers of the federal government, then what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, if the budget is in the red, if the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, if they have an elite retirement plan, it's because they want it that way. Don't let 536 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, lobbyists, or regulators to whom they give power & from whom they can take it. Don't let them con you that disembodied mystical forces prevent them from doing their job. 536 people have the power & should be held accountable, provided the voters will manage their employees. (Edited version originally authored by Charlie Reese, a former columnist with the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.)

>>Congress: They pass laws defining or refining. They confirm a President's appointees They can stop an ill-advised President. Our compass always needs to point at > The 535 elected members of Congress. Be even more concerned about the 100 Senators & we'll have no concerns about the Supreme Court. 100 Senators are the bastion of our Democracy. Focus on the Reids & the Frankens, then look at Republicans who sell out by trading their votes, "compromising" for political gain. Lew

>>HELPING HAND?: A man made a request of the Lord, 'Lord, I would like to know about Heaven & Hell.' The Lord led the man to two doors.
The Lord opened the first door while the man looked in. The middle of the room held a large round table, in the middle of which was a large pot of stew. It smelled delicious. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly, appearing to be famished. Each had spoons with very long handles strapped to their arms, finding it impossible to reach into the pot and then get a spoonful to their mouths because the handles were longer than their arms. The man shuddered at the sight of their misery & suffering. The Lord said, 'You have seen Hell.'
The Lord opened the second door. Conditions were exactly the same, a large round table holding a large pot of stew. The people were also equipped with long-handled spoons but here everyone was well fed. The man said,'I don't understand.' 'It's simple,' said the Lord. 'They've learned to feed each other. The greedy think only of themselves.'

Where did large untracable campaign contributions come from?  How did they do it?  A computer progam (similar to the program used by concert ticket brokers) can purchase 30-40,000 tickets in blocks of 2, 4, 6, or 8 tickets at a time through a credit card. A concert can be bought out in minutes. The $60.00 tickets can be then sold on line for $500.00--$1500.00 depending on how much someone is willing to pay.  Reverse the series of events. A "Donor" deposits a large sum of money in an off-shore account attached to a credit card. The credit card is activated sending untracable random amounts (programmed for $5–$10–$20–$50, etc.). Instead of using the card to purchase it is used to transfer funds. Millions can be quickly transfered. This is explains the the LARGE NUMBER of unaccounted for small contributors to the Obama campaign. It explains why Obama took down the security cross check for credit card verification. Its BASIC FRAUD 101. (Credited to Bill Balsimico @ casadice.com)
