It Was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news Video of Lt.Col.Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration. Ollie was in front of God and country getting the third degree.
He was being drilled by a senator, "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a Home security system?'
Ollie replied, 'Yes, I did, Sir.'
The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, 'Isn't that just a little excessive?'
'No, sir,' continued Ollie.
'No? And why not?' the senator asked.
'Because the lives of my family were threatened, sir.'
'Threatened? By whom?' the senator questioned.
'By a terrorist, sir' Ollie answered..
'Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?'
'His name is Osama bin Laden, sir', Ollie replied.
At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce
it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people
laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued,
'Why are you so afraid of this man?'
'Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of', Ollie answered.
'And what do you recommend we do about him?' asked the senator.
'Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth.'
The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip. That senator was Al Gore!

Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986.
The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo
agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release
so-called 'political prisoners.'However, the Israelis would not release
any with blood on their hands.
Our American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of
State, Warren Christopher, 'insisted' that all prisoners be released.
Thus, Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually "thanked us" by flying an
airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by
many American TV networks when the terrorists were first identified,
then censored in the US from all later reports.
Now, even at 73, I distinctly remember seeing all this on TV at the time. No need to "Snopes" me on this, I know first-hand that it is accurate. For 20 years I've wondered WHY? Why are the cleric agitators being allowed to live and preach their hate? If this is a war, why aren't we killing the enemy? Or is it the "military-industrial-complex" that must keep us at war, the terrorists alive, so they have markets for their arms?
When will the nice-nice, humane, agrarians learn that Atilla the Hun didn't give a damn about you or your peaceful co-existence philosophy? The Huns made their living by killng us. History is repeating itself. The terrorists are now the "Huns" who make a "living" at the expense of OUR lives. So why are we allowing them to do so?

The Islamic Terrorists & Their Imams: Few realize the dangers of this activism to our way of life because it is so "sneaky". The ignorant are dupes in the process of the struggle for world domination going on right now with religious freedom a "casualty". It isn't a "war" or a "cold war". It's a "process". Our covert enemies know a direct frontal attack will result in THEIR destruction. So they constantly work at tearing apart the fabric of our institutions, our economy, exploiting any societal weaknesses. Whether the "social engineers" like religion or not, in their "college educated" zeal they are aiding the enemies of our Democracy. Atheists should support religion simply as a matter of "free will" in a free country. Why? If they don't, they will find themselves praying on a rug whether they like it or not.
American Christians have learned the hard way. We know what brought us to America. Now we ALL have to be smart enough to preserve this wonderful country, no matter the politics, no matter the religion, whatever our "imperfections".
Few realize the hard truth or don't want to believe it, but the extremist attacks will continue unabated for 1,000 years unless we can achieve religious coexistence, finding harmony where there is dissent, tolerance where there is hatred & eliminating the "dominators". We need a plan we can all agree to & implement or our adult great-grandchildren will bear the continuing burden OR be living in an Islamic world under Islamic Extremist laws.
You still don't get it? Why do Muslims come to America? It ain't hard to figure: Religious freedom. As to the right wing Christians? I don't see any currently blowing themselves up along with innocent people. It appears to me the Islamist/Muslims have been doing the "ethnic cleansing".
Whatever the right-wing Christian transgressions, I don't want live under a radical, extremist Muslim thumb, do you? And how about the rest of the world? Need they?
We should strive for religious "balance" in the USA. But, as usual, moderates are vulnerable because of their very moderation. I'm one of them, not "for" any particular religious dogma, keenly aware that attacks on religion are just one distraction as part of an overall Islamic strategy.to dominate or destroy the "infidels", haters of religion and atheists among them.
Be Alice In Wonderland. Go through the looking glass imagining you live in a foreign country. What is on the other side? The President of the United States, our Congress & our foreign policy.
Many US citizens do not realize the power our leaders have to "do as they will" to those not residing within our borders, not subject to our Constitution. Thus, the world breathed a "sigh of relief" when Obama was elected. Their concerns & fears were well-founded.
A President's authority may be limited with respect to Domestic Policy but it is NOT on Foreign Policy. These TWO SIDES of presidential politics are each distinct from the other but the differences in power are awesome & HUGE to a foreigh country's "powerless" citizens.! It is the enormity of our Presidential Power that is under attack. The rest simply confuse the issue, distractions to the main event, all ploys to the Killing of America because our country is seen as one & the same with our American President's actions toward the rest of the world.
Obama has my hope & a prayer. We hope he knows what he's doing on Foreign Policy. The cards are on the table as to Domestic Policy. We need a watchful eye on both not because he's Obama, not because he's a Democrat, not because we are for or against him, but simply because he has so much power to do more harm than has already been done by past presidents.
Our currency is of over-riding concern because it will impact future Foreign Polciy. Remember: Presidents are human. When situations get desperate they make mistakes, they are venable. If our currency is debased, what happens to the USA, the bastion of Democracy? And our Allies?
Who has the power to hold any president in check? Our Congress.
Look at other societies. Moneylenders control the exchange rates, taking their "cut". Government control of exchange rates has kept the Bankers in check. I may be over-simplifying, but why do the Arabs hate the Jews? I believe that if you were able to focus a magnifying glass back to ancient times you'd see that "moneylending" was at the root of the conflict that still endures with all the other issues floating on top.
What do the Islamic fundamentalist terrorists want? Conflict followed by monetary control. It isn't about religion. As it has been used throughout history, religion is the "wooden horse" inside of which is a MoneyLender.
Up 'til now we've held the "moneylenders" in check. It's why the American economy has been successful. Our liberal young people need to stop & think about how much "good" can be done with a debased, inflated & indebted dollar! Worse, we are bailing out & selling out to the moneylenders, the bankers. Except for the greed of the moneylenders (in cahoots with the Arms Dealers), we could all live in peace.
Want to be a millionaire? Collect $1 from each of a million people who can't fight back, have no control. An easy $1,000,000. The power brokers know! That $1 may represent a small (but meaningful) percentage of income. But now they've found a better way: The perfect "mousetrap" to reign in those who may be gaining an economic foot-hold. INFLATION!
Those welfare payments or Social Security? An automatic reduction in buying power without legislating anything at all while the Feds spend more dollars. Neat, huh? And the British PM's visit to Obama? Probably to get a "lesson" in Obamanomics.The Democrats are killing the liberal "goose" & the do-gooder liberals are BLIND to the loss of their power to "do-good". Lew

For 60 years I've probed & pondered. I found Emerson's "common mind to all men" in a collection of his essays. In recent years using mitochondrial DNA, science has established that every human being on this earth came from the same Mother. Proof of the common mind?
I believe we'll find peace & harmony when that commonality is accepted by all who would destroy those who are "different", everyone realizing genes are responsible for the differences, God not withstanding.
We are not that far removed from the time when our ancestors lived in caves. Nor are we from the Barbarians & the Huns who raped while burning & pillaging peaceful farmers & fishermen. Their progeny live on. We must reach & teach them, harnessing the power of their genes to construct rather than destroy. Otherwise their ignorance of self will destroy free societies yet again. Lew

MAXINE'S BIRD FEEDER:
I bought a bird feeder, hung it on my back porch & filled it with seed. We soon had 100's of birds enjoying the free food.
They built nests in the boards of the patio, above the table & next to the BBQ. Then came the shit on the patio, the chairs, the table! Some turned mean, dive bombing me, trying to peck me though I had fed them out of my own pocket. Others were boisterous & loud, sat on the feeder & squawked & screamed at all hours of the day & night, demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.
I couldn't sit on my own back porch!
So I took the bird feeder down. In three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess & took down the nests.
Soon, the back yard was like it used to be... Quiet, serene.
Now let's see... Our Canadian government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education....
Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands.
Our taxes went up to pay for services; small apartments are housing 5 families; you wait 6 hours to be seen by a doctor; your child's class is behind because half the class doesn't speak English. Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box & people wave flags other than the 'Canadian Maple Leaf ', squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more...
It's time to take down the "bird feeder".
